Recent research suggests that sustained psychological treatment which focuses on personality dynamics brings the greatest relief for symptoms, such as depression and anxiety, and the most change in life circumstances to clients, including those suffering with extreme emotional distress.  The task of choosing a therapist can seem daunting; however, with sensitive guidance, it is possible to find psychological support that is responsive to each person's needs.

A good fit between therapist and client can be assessed in an initial consultation.   In person, we can discover what it is like to talk to each other, to tell another person our most intimate thoughts and feelings, and to feel understood.  Individuals interested in beginning psychoanalysis or psychodynamic psychotherapy are encouraged to arrange for a consultation to speak about their concerns and assess their ease with the therapist.
